Dolphins confirm leaving players.
There will only be two players left to negotiate a new contract.
Four players will depart the Dolphins after their inaugural season, the team has announced.
While the team had already announced Oliver Gildart’s transfer to Hull Kingston Rovers and Herman Ese’ese’s transfer to Hull FC, both players were leaving for the English Super League, and the Dolphins also announced they would release Poasa Faamausili and JJ Collins at the end of 2023.
Brenko Lee is the other player who won’t be playing for the Redcliffe-based team in the upcoming season.
Although the club hasn’t released an official statement on the subject of Lee’s future, the club informed News Corp during the week that the center had been released in order to pursue an opportunity in England.
Lee’s inclusion in the team’s graphic saying goodbye to its departing players has now confirmed that.
While Collins and Faamausili both played depth roles at the beginning of the season, Ese’ese showed a lot of promise for the team in the forward position.
Given that the majority of players were signed to at least two-year contracts, the Dolphins were never going to have a lengthy list of departures at the conclusion of their inaugural season.
Along with the quartet that the club today officially announced, Michael Roberts and Kurt Donoghoe’s future is still up in the air.
With Roberts being a member of this year’s development squad and Donoghoe being in the Top 30, the club has not taken any action to confirm whether the pair have been re-signed or will be given new contracts.
Both players have played a limited number of games for Wayne Bennett’s team.
