Valentine Holmes (suspension), Jake Trbojevic, and Nicho Hynes were omitted, along with Tom Flegler.

Kotoni Staggs is a player to keep an eye on.
He will play in Australia for the first time in this series and has been outstanding for the Broncos as the year comes to a close.
Having played in just one game for the NSW Blues in 2022, his representative career has thus far been anything but easygoing. He took a blow to the shoulder in that game, but he was still able to play in the next two games of the series, even though he wasn’t chosen.
Before Valentine Holmes is allowed to play after serving a one-game suspension, Staggs will have one game to establish his value when the Kangaroos take the field.

Kotoni Staggs will be eager to draw attention to himself and the Kangaroos.
Liam Kidston is shown in the photo. It was published by News Corp Australia.

A major concern for the Kangaroos was Nathan Cleary’s fitness after he injured his knee as a result of a Payne Haas hip drop in the championship game. Nicho Hynes was called in to the team to fill his spot after he was declared out on Wednesday. Daly Cherry-Evans, who is already on the team, is expected to be Australia’s first-choice halfback, but Hynes is now one step closer to making a comeback after being passed over for Game II of the Origin series.
James Tedesco, a young fullback for the Roosters, prevailed over Ponga, Reece Walsh, and Dylan Edwards for the position, and coach Mal Meninga stuck by his man.
In spite of his involvement in an all-out brawl at the Koori Knockout, winger Josh Addo-Carr has also been named.
The tournament’s opening game will also be missed by center Valentine Holmes, who is serving a suspension related to his white powder scandal.
His suspension gives Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow and Kotoni Staggs a chance to win Meninga over and possibly keep Holmes off the team. Isaah Yeo and Patrick Carrigan are battling it out for the lock position in the Kangaroos’ squad, which features a wide variety of talented forwards.
State of Queensland No. Due to his success in the Origin series, 13 might receive the start, which would force Yeo to sit out and develop into a fantastic impact player in the middle.
It is still unknown who will start for Australia, but the hooker tandem of Ben Hunt and Harry Grant is expected to stick together.
Hynes, however, is also available to play in the utility role if necessary.

Playing for their future: Daly Cherry-Evans has been given the opportunity to take control in the No. 1 position in what may be his final series wearing the Kangaroos colors.
jersey number seven. Cherry-Evans will don the No. 1 because Cleary is out.
Queensland’s winning halfback duo for the Origin tournament was 7 and Cameron Munster.
When the time comes for international football in 2024, Meninga will be forced to select him again if he performs well.
