Bruins rookie Morgan Geekie provides a relatable evaluation of Boston.

After playing for the Seattle Kraken for the previous two seasons, new Bruins member Morgan Geekie signed a free-agent contract with Boston in July.
The streets of the place he now calls home have proven to be more difficult for him to learn how to navigate than the franchise.

Navigating the streets of a city is always a little unsettling, whether you’re nearby or far away.
especially if that city is Boston.

After Monday’s practice at TD Garden, Geekie said, “I don’t like coming downtown because the roads kind of mess with me a little bit.
Additionally, it takes me roughly 15 minutes to get back on course if I take a wrong turn.
but it’s fantastic.
Both the organization and everyone have been fantastic. The city is fantastic.
It’s been a lot of fun.

In what ways does Boston differ from Seattle?

“Here, the traffic is a little better.
It’s a little better and a little quieter, though I wouldn’t say by much,” he said.
However, it’s good.
Everything has been excellent.

“The differences aren’t that significant. Coming in as the new guy, they already seemed to have a group in place.
Unlike Seattle, where all of the Expansion Draft picks essentially arrived simultaneously.
Just getting used to such things and learning new tricks about how they manage their organization.
In both places, I’ve had a lot of positive encounters. I have nothing but praise to offer.

The 25-year-old forward acknowledged that playing for a team like the Bruins rather than the Kraken has major advantages due to their respective histories.

“I believe you can sense it.
I believe you should play it with more pride,” he said.
“You put on that same jersey and see all the Hall of Fame players who have come through these doors in the past.
I’m not sure if there is a direct increase in pressure.
Playing in Boston carries a little bit more weight, but I wouldn’t characterize it as pressure.
Simply more pride, really.
