Wallabies’ future after World Cup: Tim Horan’s pessimistic forecast.

Tim Horan, a Wallabies legend, grimly forecast that it will take “at least two years” to rebuild Australian rugby in the wake of their humiliating group-stage exit from the World Cup in France.

It comes as Rugby Australia chairman Hamish McLennan acknowledged he “hasn’t spoken to Eddie Jones” after he was rumored to be in recent secret negotiations to take over as Japan’s head coach.

Rugby fans in Australia want answers after their team was thrashed 40-6 by Wales, but Horan, who won two World Cups in 1991 and 1999, stressed that the numerous changes will take time.

In his commentary for Stan Sport, he expressed his hope that the team could be rebuilt and that everyone in Australia would have hope.

‘I [also] believe we need to increase the number of players.
We may need more than two to four years to recover and regain the Wallabies DNA, but we’re hoping for the upcoming 12 months.

“I believe it will take a bit longer,” she said.

It will be interesting to see if Jones can help with the situation before the 2027 World Cup, which will be held in his country.

Jones was informed about the Japan coaching position by RA CEO Phil Waugh, according to McLennan, who also noted that Jones said it was just media rumor.

Jones acknowledged that, from the outside, Australian rugby appeared to be in a “shambles” following the loss to Wales, but he was confident he could turn things around.

Jones now needs to make sure Australia defeats underdog Portugal on Monday at 2:45 AM AEST and hope Fiji loses to the same opponents and Georgia in order for Australia to advance, but that seems highly unlikely.
