F1 driver confident that only one team will challenge Red Bull and Max Verstappen for the 2024 championship.
In order to win the Drivers’ Championship for the third time in a row, world champion Max Verstappen has dominated Formula 1 with Red Bull this season, winning 14 of the 17 races.
Max Verstappen’s supremacy in Formula 1 could finally come to an end, in Carlos Sainz’s opinion, if Ferrari is the only team that can compete with Red Bull the following season.
In the sprint races on Saturday, Verstappen secured his third consecutive world championship, securing victory with six complete races left.
The next day, he won the Qatar Grand Prix, putting him 209 points ahead of his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez in second place.
Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes and the other nine teams are working extremely hard to catch up to Red Bull in the lead-up to the upcoming season.
Even so, Sainz, who is the only driver not affiliated with Red Bull to win a full race this year, believes Ferrari can challenge Red Bull come 2024.
At a Spanish event, Sainz was discussing Ferrari’s goals for 2024.
“I am always optimistic before the season starts,” he stated.
Like last year, I was full of optimism, and we made a mistake.
“You must have an optimistic mindset.
The Ferraris, both in the first half of last year and now with the victory in Singapore and the podium in Monza, are, in my opinion, the only teams that have been able to compete with Red Bull somewhat over the past two years.
“Red Bull is unbeatable now that there are new rules in place, but we are the ones who can occasionally defeat Red Bull.
There are still six races left, so we still need to stay focused, but I believe I’m in the best position to try again next year.

In the Drivers’ Championship, Sainz leads teammate Charles Leclerc by eight points and looks set to wrap up the season as Ferrari’s top driver. Sainz and Leclerc, who finished fifth and sixth this season, respectively, haven’t exactly dazzled.
Third place is currently held by Ferrari behind Mercedes and Red Bull in the Constructors’ Championship.
Mercedes leads Ferrari by 28 points, but Red Bull has already secured that championship.
This year’s major subplot has been the race for second place.
Ferrari could still end up fifth in the Constructors’ Championship, with McLaren in fifth place (79 points behind) and Aston Martin in fourth place (68 points behind) pursuing closely.
In the previous two races, McLaren has finished on the podium four times.
Hamilton is not confident that he will catch up to Sainz on Red Bull.
“We are a long, long way away, but I have no idea where the car is going to be next year,” the Mercedes star said to Sky Sports last month.
“In order to close that gap, the upcoming six months must be the best six months of development we’ve ever experienced. to pound on the door with great force.
