As Mac Jones enters his third season as the team’s franchise quarterback, the New England Patriots have made significant changes to the quarterback room by releasing two quarterbacks.

Two quarterbacks have been released by the New England Patriots, it was revealed on Monday.

For the Patriots in his third season at Gillette Stadium, Mac Jones is the starting quarterback.
With the No. 1 overall pick, Jones was given the duty of succeeding NFL legend Tom Brady.
The starting quarterback ever since was selected with the No. 15 overall pick in 2021.

However, following the release of two players, Ian Book and Matt Corral, the Patriots have now reconfigured their quarterback room.
In contrast to Book, who was let go from the practice squad, Corral has been waived after being added to the exempt/left list.

After being released by the Panthers earlier in the offseason, Corral was initially signed by the Patriots.
At first, he was ranked No. Bill Belichick will have two quarterbacks on his 53-man roster for the regular season of the NFL in 2023.

Prior to the NFL deadline on August 1, the Patriots released Bailey Zappe and Malik Cunningham, prompting the decision.

On September 1, Corral was added to the left squad list.
9 resulted in Zappe being re-signed by the Patriots to join their 53-man roster.
After missing the entirety of his rookie season in 2022 due to a foot injury, it has now been confirmed that Corral has been released.
Corral has yet to play in the NFL.

Additionally, quarterback Ian Book was let go by the Patriots on Monday, according to reports. Book was not listed among the 53 players but was a member of the practice squad.

Only two quarterbacks are currently listed on the 53-man roster as a result of the Patriots’ choices. They are Jones and Zappe, with Jones anticipated to start the upcoming season and Zappe now back in the mix following his release.

Jones is now in the third year of the rookie contract he signed back in 2021.
For the Patriots, he has been the franchise quarterback, and that is probably still the case for the upcoming season.

The Patriots still have the option to bolster their quarterback room through either a trade or free agency.
October 1st was the trade deadline.
If Belichick decides that more reinforcements are required, the Patriots still have 31 players on their roster.

AFC East divisional play against the New York Jets is the Patriots’ upcoming opponent.
After the team’s 0-2 start to the season due to the loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 2, Belichick will be hoping for a better performance.
